El telescopio solar europeo (EST), con un espejo primario de 4.2 metros, se encuentra en su etapa de diseño preliminar que durará hasta finales de 2022. A lo largo de 2023 está previsto que se inicie su diseño detallado y construcción.

En esta charla, representando al equipo EST y MICAL, se describirá el estado del diseño del telescopio y su propuesta de instrumentos. Además se tratará resumidamente la importancia sobre la ingeniería de sistemas y las herramientas software que estamos usando para organizar el trabajo. Por último, se expondrán las licitaciones que están previstas publicar y se concluirá mencionando algunas tecnologías que se están usando en el diseño de EST y que también son aplicables a telescopios nocturnos.

The European Solar telescope (EST), with a primary mirror of 4.2 meters, is in the preliminary design phase that will last until end of 2022 and it is foreseen that the detailed design and construction will start during 2023.

In this talk, on behalf of EST and MICAL teams, the state of the telescope design and its instruments proposals will be described. In addition, the importance of systems engineering and the software tools we are using to organize the work will be briefly summarized. Finally, it will be presented the next tenders that are planned to be published and it will be concluded by mentioning some technologies that are being used in the EST design and that are also applicable to night-time telescopes.
