  • Faint emission lines in M16, M20, NGC 3603 (Garcia-Rojas+, 2006)
The observations were made on 2003 March 29, 30 and 31 with UVES, at the VLT Kueyen Telescope in Cerro Paranal Observatory (Chile). We used the standard settings in both the red and blue arms of the spectrograph, covering the spectral region from 3100 to 10400{AA}. (1 data file).

  • Faint emission lines in planetary nebulae with a [WC] nucleus
We present first results from the analysis of a sample of 14 planetary nebulae with [WC] nucleus with detected faint carbon and oxygen recombination lines (RLs). The results are based on deep echelle spectra obtained with MIKE on the 6.5 m Magellan-Clay telescope in Chile.

  • Far-infrared constraints on the contamination by dust-obscured galaxies of high-z dropout searches
The spectral energy distributions (SED) of dusty galaxies at intermediate redshift may look similar to very high-redshift galaxies in the optical/near infrared (NIR) domain. This can lead to the contamination of high-redshift galaxy searches based on broad-band optical/NIR photometry by lower redshift dusty galaxies because both kind of galaxies

  • Fast magnetohydrodynamic waves in a two-slab coronal structure: collective behaviour
Aims.We study fast magnetohydrodynamic waves in a system of two coronal loops modeled as smoothed, dense plasma slabs in a uniform magnetic field. This allows us to analyse in a simple configuration the collective behaviour of the structure due to the interaction between the slabs. Methods: .We first calculate the normal modes of the system and

  • Fast MHD oscillations in cylindrical prominence fibrils
Some observations suggest that quiescent solar prominences can be considered as composed by small-scale loops, or fibrils, which are stacked one after another in both the vertical and horizontal directions. In a previous work we studied, in Cartesian geometry, the propagation of fast MHD waves in a two-dimensional magnetostatic model representing

  • Fast Variability and Mini-Outbursts in the soft X-ray transient XTE J1859+226
The soft X-ray transient (SXT) XTE J1859+226 has been optically monitored from Tenerife using the IAC-80 and OGS 1m telescopes since its outburst on 1999 Oct 10 (see IAUC 7274, 7279). This R-band CCD photometry revealed a smooth decline of 0.017 mag/day for most of the next 8 months in parallel with that seen by the RXTE ASM, until two large ( ~2.5
