Dr. Marc Pinsonneault, Professor from The Ohio State University. The goals of Marc’s visit are two-fold. The first one is to progress on the Kepler Legacy red giant catalog to provide the largest catalog of red giants with seismic detections and characterization (mass, radius, age) by combining Kepler observations and Gaia. In particular, this includes late subgiants observed by Kepler for which new seismic detections have been done, allowing us to study the first dredge-up, a not very well characterized stage in the evolution of solar-like stars. The second goal is to work on the analysis of the NASA TESS mission data to study the surface rotation of tens of thousands of stars using the rotation pipeline developed within the seismology group. In addition, Marc will collaborate with IAC scientists working on galactic archeology.
