Description

Measurements of the Earth's surface temperature indicate that the Earth has undergone considerable warming in the last hundred years, probably due to the emission of gases from the burning of fossil fuels. In order to evaluate its importance, in this work a trip is made along the diverse climatic changes that our planet has suffered, from its origin until our days, studying its possible causes.

Special emphasis is given to the contribution that the changes in the energy we receive from the Sun may have made to these processes. Finally, the possible consequences of warming are discussed and some solutions to the problem are suggested.

Author: Manuel Vázquez Abeledo, expert in Solar Physics and researcher at the IAC. McGraw-Hill/Interamericana de España, S.A.U. Scientific Dissemination Series.
