About LISA Visible Range (CCDs, EMCCDs, sCMOS):
Typical tests available at LISA with visible range devices:
Standard parameters (all CCDs and CMOS)
- Conversion factor (CF) in [e-/ADU]
- Read-out noise (RON) in [e-]
- Bias in [ADU]
- Linearity (curve) in [% deviation]
- Saturation levels (image area, serial register) in [e-]
- Charge transfer efficiency (image area (CTE_V), serial register (CTE_H))
- Absolute Quantum efficiency (QE) in [%]
- Pixel response non-uniformity (PRNU) in [%]
- Fringing [p-v]
- Dark current (I dark) in [e-/pixel/s]
- Dark signal non-uniformity (DSNU) in [%]
- Cosmetics (dark and white defects, points and columns, traps)
Parameters for L3CCDs (equivalent to EMCCDs)
- Multiplication gain
- Excess noise factor
- Clock induced charge (CIC) in [e-/pixel/frame]
Measurements of these parameters for both, visible range cameras and detectors, are done at the calibration optical visible bench of LISA. This calibration bench has a classical design, similar to other international facilities, which allows selecting the wavelength and making light flux calibration. Moreover, a couple of general-purpose cryostats (CCC-Helium, Cryotiger NF-50) for CCDs detectors are available to measure at low temperature the DUT (Device Under Test) in vacuum conditions.
A tentative list of devices tested and characterized at the LISA facility is given below:
- CCDs and CMOS (general imaging):
- From Teledyne-E2V: E2V-231-84 (4k x 4k, integrated into SI-1100 camera system); E2V-230 (4k x 4k) integrated into SI-900 camera system; E2V-42-90 (2k x 2k, integrated into SI-600 camera system); E2V-4482 (2k x 4k, using ARC-gen II and III detectors controller). Also, Teledyne E2V-231-84-DD BI with a complete development of mechanics, control and cryogenics.
- From Fairchild Imaging: CCD-486 (4k x 4k, integrated into SI-600 camera system)
- General Purpose Compact CCD cameras (Teledyne, JAI/Pulnix, Basler, SBIG, PCO, Andor-Oxford...)
- GSENSE sCMOS (integrated): ANDOR_Marana, FLI-Kepler. Others 2k x 2k camera CMOS and CCD integrated sensors, as Andor-IKON or Princeton Instruments (Teledyne)
