The Instrument division of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) has been working, in collaboration with other organizations, on the design and manufacture of the electronic system which will receive and process the astronomical data from the PLATO space mission of the European Space Agency (ESA) which aim is find “other Earths” which orbit stars similar to the Sun. The work led by the IAC has recently been approved by an international technical team which met at the headquarters of the company CRISA/AIRBUS in Madrid, with the presence of representatives of the European Space Agency

Con motivo del Día Mundial de la Diabetes el 14 de noviembre, el IAC anuncia el lanzamiento del nuevo programa de ampliación de la Base de Datos con la que cuenta el equipo de investigación. Los nuevos datos contribuirán al avance en el diagnóstico precoz de patologías del pie diabético. Las personas que quieran colaborar, pueden pedir cita a partir del día 19, rellenando un formulario en la página web del IAC.

El Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) continúa su labor educativa y divulgativa con la apertura de sus puertas en sus sedes de Tenerife a grupos escolares, en función de sus edades y niveles educativos, con actividades que muestran de la mano de personal especializado conceptos de Astrofísica y cómo se trabaja en este centro de investigación que tiene como objeto desentrañar los misterios del Universo. Así, el alumnado de centros escolares de Canarias tiene la opción de visitar el Observatorio del Teide, en Tenerife. Además, pueden visitar tanto la sede central del IAC en La Laguna

Students from IES Viera y Clavijo participating in the CANSAT programme of the European Space Agency (ESA) visited the facilities of the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC) as part of the training activities they are carrying out together with their teachers. The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), through its Office of Transfer and Institutional Actions (OTAI), has taken part in the IV Technical Conference of the Canarian Knowledge Transfer Offices (OTCs) and European Project Offices (OPEs) that took place this Friday at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). The meeting addressed how to promote the transfer of knowledge from universities and public research centres in the Canary Islands to the productive fabric and society.
