Description
Hen 3-1475 (IRAS 17423-1755) has recently been identified via ground-based and HST optical images as a bipolar proto-planetary nebula displaying a remarkable highly--collimated optical jet and a spectacular S-shaped string of knots along its bipolar axis, associated to extremely high velocities which decrease with the distance to the central star. We present new long-slit high resolution spectroscopy of the highly collimated regions of Hen 3-1475. IRAS 17423-1755 The high-dispersion spectra are used together with the high angular resolution images obtained with HST WFPC2 to provide a comprehensive picture of the complex structure and kinematics of the shocked--excited emission and the dust--scattered emission in this proto-planetary nebula. The overall picture supports a temporal and angular variability of the jet ejection.
