Description
Since the discovery of the first extrasolar planet 51 Pegb [1] more than
190 extrasolar planets have been detected in orbit around other stars by
means of precise stellar radial velocity (RV) measurements. But all RV
surveys are concentrating almost entirely on solar-type stars covering
only a narrow spectral and stellar mass range (spectral type F8-K1,
0.7-1.3 M &sun;) and up to now only six substellar companions
around the intermediate mass stars HD 47536 [2], HD 104985 [3], γ
Cep [4], HD 11977 [5], HD 13189 [6], and β Gem [7] have been
identified. Interestingly, all these planets have masses of several
Jupiter masses.
