  • Spectroscopy of Post-AGB Candidate IRAS 10215-5916
IRAS 10215-5916 was classified as a post-AGB star and also as a massive red supergiant. It was also found to be a spectroscopic binary. In our high resolution spectra we found molecular features from a cool star of Teff = 3750K. We also see the spectral signature of a relatively hotter star of Teff = 7250K. We found that both the components of the

  • SPIDER VIII - constraints on the stellar initial mass function of early-type galaxies from a variety of spectral features
We perform a spectroscopic study to constrain the stellar initial mass function (IMF) by using a large sample of 24 781 early-type galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey-based Spheroids Panchromatic Investigation in Different Environmental Regions survey. Clear evidence is found of a trend between IMF and central velocity dispersion (σ0)

  • Spitzer IRS spectra of compact Galactic planetary nebulae: The link between dust, evolution, and metallicity
A sample of ~150 compact Galactic PNe has been observed with the Spitzer/IRS spectrograph to characterize their dust properties. These PNe are likely to be at the onset of the PN evolutionary phase, and are therefore ideal for probing dust evolution. The molecular emission features in these Galactic PN spectra are similar to those found in our

  • Spitzer observations of spacecraft target 162173 (1999 JU3)
Context: Near-Earth asteroid 162173 (1999 JU3) is the primary target of the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Hayabusa-2 sample return mission, and is also on the list of potential targets for the European Space Agency (ESA) Marco Polo sample return mission. Earth-based studies of this object are fundamental to these missions. Aims: Our

  • Spitzer/IRAC view of Sh 2-284. Searching for evidence of triggered star formation in an isolated region in the outer Milky Way
Aims: Using Spitzer/IRAC observations of a region to be observed by the CoRoT satellite, we have unraveled a new complex star-forming region at low metallicity in the outer Galaxy. We perform a study of S284 in order to outline the chain of events in this star-forming region. Methods: We used four-band Spitzer/IRAC photometry as well as Hα imaging
