  • HerMES: The Far-infrared Emission from Dust-obscured Galaxies
Dust-obscured galaxies (DOGs) are an ultraviolet-faint, infrared-bright galaxy population that reside at z ~ 2 and are believed to be in a phase of dusty star-forming and active galactic nucleus (AGN) activity. We present far-infrared (far-IR) observations of a complete sample of DOGs in the 2 deg2 of the Cosmic Evolution Survey. The 3077 DOGs have

  • Herschel FIR counterparts of selected Lyα emitters at z ~ 2.2. Fast evolution since z ~ 3 or missed obscured AGNs?
Lyα emitters (LAEs) are seen everywhere in the redshift domain from local to z ~ 7. Far-infrared (FIR) counterparts of LAEs at different epochs could provide direct clues on dust content, extinction, and spectral energy distribution (SED) for these galaxies. We search for FIR counterparts of LAEs that are optically detected in the GOODS-North field

  • HI Jodrell All Sky Survey (Lang+, 2003)
Details are presented of the H I Jodrell All Sky Survey (HIJASS). HIJASS is a blind neutral hydrogen (H I) survey of the northern sky ({delta}>22{deg}), being conducted using the multibeam receiver on the Lovell Telescope (full width at half-maximum beamwidth 12-arcmin) at Jodrell Bank. HIJASS covers the velocity range -3500 to 10000 km/s, with a

  • Hidden supernova remnants in the Large Magellanic Cloud H II complex N44
We have obtained ROSAT PSPC observations of N44, one of the largest H II complexes in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The X-ray emission mostly fails within the ionized shell structures in N44. We find that one faint shell is a classical supernova remnant overlooked by previous surveys. If we model the two largest shells as pressure-driven superbubbles

  • High redshift galaxies through gravitational lensing
The technique and some preliminary results about the study of the luminosity function (LF) of Lyman Alpha Emitters (LAEs) through gravitational lensing (GL) is presented. Clusters of galaxies, with suitably modeled gravitational lenses are observed using the tunable filters (TF) of the instrument OSIRIS at the GTC. The combination of these natural

  • High resolution imaging and wavefront aberration correction in plenoptic systems
Plenoptic imaging systems are becoming more common since they provide capabilities unattainable in conventional imaging systems, but one of their main limitations is the poor bidimensional resolution. Combining the wavefront phase measurement and the plenoptic image deconvolution, we propose a system capable of improving the resolution when a
