  • Initial mass function variability from the integrated light of diverse stellar systems
We present a uniform analysis of the stellar initial mass function (IMF) from integrated light spectroscopy of 15 compact stellar systems (11 globular clusters in M31 and 4 ultra compact dwarfs in the Virgo cluster, UCDs) and two brightest Coma cluster galaxies (BCGs), covering a wide range of metallicities (-1.7 < [Fe/H] < 0.01) and velocity

  • Internal kinematics of dwarf satellites of MW/M31-like galaxies in TNG50
We present a kinematic study of a thousand of dwarf satellites of MW/M31-like hosts from the IllustrisTNG50 simulation. Internal kinematics were derived for all the snapshots to obtain a historical record of their rotation velocity in the plane of the sky (|V T|) and the amplitude of their velocity gradients along the line of sight ($A_{\rm grad}^

  • The star formation histories of quiescent ultra-diffuse galaxies and their dependence on environment and globular cluster richness
We derive the stellar population parameters of 11 quiescent ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs) from Keck/KCWI data. We supplement these with 14 literature UDGs, creating the largest spectroscopic sample of UDGs to date (25). We find a strong relationship between their α-enhancement and their star formation histories: UDGs that formed on very short time

  • A review of planetary systems around HD 99492, HD 147379, and HD 190007 with HARPS-N
Context. The Rocky Planet Search (RPS) program is dedicated to a blind radial velocity (RV) search of planets around bright stars in the northern hemisphere, using the high-resolution echelle spectrograph HARPS-N installed on the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG). Aims: The goal of this work is to revise and update the properties of three

  • A super-massive Neptune-sized planet
Neptune-sized planets exhibit a wide range of compositions and densities, depending on factors related to their formation and evolution history, such as the distance from their host stars and atmospheric escape processes. They can vary from relatively low-density planets with thick hydrogen-helium atmospheres 1,2 to higher-density planets with a

  • BASS. XXXV. The M BH-σ* Relation of 105 Month Swift-BAT Type 1 AGNs
We present two independent measurements of stellar velocity dispersions (σ ⋆) from the Ca II H+K λ3969, 3934 and Mg I b λ 5183, 5172, 5167 region (3880-5550 Å) and the calcium triplet region (8350-8750 Å) for 173 hard X-ray-selected Type 1 active galactic nuclei (AGNs; z ≤ 0.08) from the 105 month Swift-BAT catalog. We construct one of the largest
