The European Solar Telescope (EST) (http://www.est-east.eu) is a European solar physics initiative involving more than 30 institutions from 18 countries, under the coordination of the IAC, representing the largest infrastructure of European research projected in the field of solar physics from Earth.
The CTA is an initiative which is planning the construction of a new generation of Cherenkov Telescopes to study the universe in very high energy gamma-rays. Gamma-rays carry information about the most violent and extreme events in the universe.
The NRT (New Robotic Telescope) is a project to design and build a 4-meter telescope within five years, which from the ORM will operate in a totally autonomous and robotic way. This form of operation will make it the largest robotic telescope in the world.

This was stated by the acting Minister for Science, Innovation, and the Universities, Pedro Duque who chaired the annual meeting of the Governing Council of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), held today at its La Laguna headquarters. Among the other matters dealt with was the state of the negotiations about large telescopes, and the draft budget for 2020 was approved which, if implemented, will be larger for the first time than the budget of the Institute prior to the economic crisis in 2018.
The Minister of Science, Universities and Innovation and the President of the Government of the Canaries attended the annual meeting of the Governing Council of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias which was held today at the IAC Headquarters in La Laguna, Tenerife. Among other documents discussed were the Strategic Plan for the Canary Island Observatories, and a study of the socioeconomic impact of the astrophysics sector in the islands.
