  • Tracking Advanced Planetary Systems (TAPAS) with HARPS-N. V. A Massive Jupiter orbiting the very-low-metallicity giant star BD+03 2562 and a possible planet around HD 103485
Context. Evolved stars with planets are crucial to understanding the dependency of the planet formation mechanism on the mass and metallicity of the parent star and to studying star-planet interactions. Aims: We present two evolved stars (HD 103485 and BD+03 2562) from the Tracking Advanced PlAnetary Systems (TAPAS) with HARPS-N project devoted to

  • Towards a Unified View of Inhomogeneous Stellar Winds in Isolated Supergiant Stars and Supergiant High Mass X-Ray Binaries
Massive stars, at least ˜10 times more massive than the Sun, have two key properties that make them the main drivers of evolution of star clusters, galaxies, and the Universe as a whole. On the one hand, the outer layers of massive stars are so hot that they produce most of the ionizing ultraviolet radiation of galaxies; in fact, the first massive

  • The Uv Spectral Window: New Means To Constrain The Stellar Populations Of Early-Type Galaxies
We discuss the possibilities of exploiting the UV spectral using the J-PAS survey to disentangle young contributions from apparently old galaxies. We show that the feasibility of determining such young stellar components in early-type galaxies at moderately high redshift.

  • The Tc Trend In The Zetta Reticuli System: N Spectra – N Trends.
It is suggested that the chemical abundance trend with the condensation temperature, Tc , can be a signature of rocky planet formation or accretion. Recently, a strong Tc trend was reported in the Zetta Reticuli binary system (Saffe et al., 2016), where ζ2 Ret Ret shows a deficit of refractory elements relative to its companion (ζ1 Ret). This

  • The radial abundance gradient of oxygen towards the Galactic anti-centre
We present deep optical spectroscopy of eight H II regions located in the anti-centre of the Milky Way. The spectra were obtained at the 10.4 m GTC and 8.2 m VLT. We determined Te([N II]) for all objects and Te([O III]) for six of them. We also included in our analysis an additional sample of 13 inner-disc Galactic H II regions from the literature

  • The Origins of Planetary Nebulae in the Inner and Outer Disks of M 31
The planetary nebulae (PNe) of M 31 are receiving considerable attention as probes of its structure and chemical evolution in a galactic environment that is putatively similar to the Milky Way. We have obtained deep spectra for about 30 luminous PNe in M 31's inner disk and beyond (R gal 105 kpc). The entire ensemble of PNe exhibit O/H ~ 2/3 solar
