  • Herschel-SPIRE spectroscopy of nearby Seyfert galaxies
We present the 450-1550 GHz spectra of three nearby Seyfert galaxies (NGC1068, NGC7130 and NGC7582) taken with the Herschel SPIRE FTS. For the case of NGC1068 we reconstruct the nuclear spectral line energy distribution (SLED) of the CO lines, applying nonLTE radiative transfer and a Bayesian likelihood analysis to estimate the physical properties

  • HerMES: SPIRE emission from radio-selected active galactic nuclei
We examine the rest-frame far-infrared emission from powerful radio sources with 1.4-GHz luminosity densities of 25 ≤ log(L1.4/W Hz-1) ≤ 26.5 in the extragalactic Spitzer First Look Survey field. We combine Herschel/SPIRE flux densities with Spitzer/Infrared Array Camera and Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer infrared data to obtain total (?m

  • GX 339-4 is back in a faint state close to quiescence
The black hole candidate GX 339-4 has spent more than one year in outburst. It entered outburst in 2010 January (ATel #2380, #2384), brightened in the hard state (ATel #2455, #2459, #2525) before making a transition to the soft state in 2010 April - May (ATel #2545, #2547, #2573, #2577, #2593) and finally returned to the hard state in 2011 January

  • Formation and Evolution of a Multi-Threaded Prominence with Different Heating Scenarios
Solar prominences are cool and dense plasma suspended in the million-degree solar corona. Recent observations reveal that prominences are composed of fine and highly dynamic threads aligned with the local magnetic field. We have constructed a 3D time-dependent model of a prominence combining a magnetic field structure with 1D independent
