  • Equivalent widths of VMF73 and VMF74 galaxies (Gerken+, 2004)
J2000 coordinates, redshifts and equivalent widths of Hα and [OII]3727 are presented for a sample of 79 galaxies in the clusters VMF73 and VMF74 at respective redshifts of z=0.25 and z=0.18. (1 data file).

  • Discovery of the optical counterpart to XTEJ1748-361=A1744-36
We report the discovery of the optical counterpart to the X-ray transient XTE J1748-361 using the 6.5m Magellan-Clay telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. Several 5-minute images in the V and R bands were obtained using the MagIC camera on May 31 as well as November 9 2003 when the object was reported in outburst (ATEL #204). Seeing conditions

  • Cosmochemistry
This book contains the lectures delivered at the XIII Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics, which reviewed current knowledge about the origin and evolution of the chemical elements in the Universe. Written by seven prestigious astrophysics researchers, it covers cosmological and stellar nucleosynthesis, abundance determinations in stars and

  • CINEMÁTICA DEL GAS IONIZADO EN GALAXIAS ESPIRALES (KINEMATICS OF THE IONIZAD GAS IN SPIRAL GALAXIES)

  • Box- and peanut-shaped bulges. III. A new class of bulges: Thick Boxy Bulges
Inspecting all 1224 edge-on disk galaxies larger than 2arcmin in the RC3 on Digitized Sky Survey (DSS) images (Lütticke et al. cite{lue2000a}) we have found several galaxies with extraordinary bulges meeting two criteria: they are box shaped and large in respect to the diameters of their galaxies. These bulges are often disturbed, show frequently
