  • Preparing the COROT space mission: Incidence and characterisation of pulsation in the lower instability strip
By pursuing the goal to find new variables in the COROT field-of-view we characterised a sample of stars located in the lower part of the instability strip. Our sample is composed of stars belonging to the disk population in the solar neighbourhood. We found that 23% of the stars display multiperiodic light variability up to a few mmag in amplitude

  • Optical and near-infrared observations of the microquasar V4641 Sgr during the 1999 September outburst
We present photometric and spectroscopic optical and near-infrared (NIR) observations taken during the outburst of the microquasar V4641 Sgr = SAX J1819.3 - 2525 in 1999 September. We observed an increase in the J-Ks colour between 5 and 8 d after the outburst, which we interpret as likely evidence for the presence of dust around the source. We

  • Non-LTE Model Atmospheres for Late-Type Stars. II. Restricted Non-LTE Calculations for a Solar-like Atmosphere
We test our knowledge of the atomic opacity in the solar UV spectrum. Using the atomic data compiled in the first paper in this series from modern, publicly available databases, we perform calculations that are compared with space-based observations of the Sun. At wavelengths longer than about 2600 Å, LTE modeling can reproduce quite closely the

  • New measurement of the 6Li/7Li isotopic ratio in the extra-solar planet host star HD 82943 and line blending in the Li 6708 Å region
The presence of possible blends in the spectral region of the Li resonance line at 6708 Å in solar-type metal-rich stars is investigated using high resolution and high signal-to-noise spectroscopic observations. Our analysis does not confirm the identification of a weak absorption feature at 6708.025 Å with the low excitation Ti I line proposed by
