  • How AMBER will contribute to the search for brown dwarfs and extrasolar giant planets
Various radial velocity surveys have now produced a number of candidates Very Low Mass Stars, Brown Dwarfs and Giant Extrasolar Planets to nearby G, K and M dwarfs. Building upon our experience in High Angular Resolution imaging, radial velocities measurements and atmosphere modeling, we discuss the detectability of Brown Dwarfs and Extrasolar

  • HJK photometry of 10 barred spirals (Perez-Ramirez+, 2000)
We have obtained NIR broad-band images in the J, H and K bands of 12 barred galaxies that make up our sample, during three observing runs with the 3.6 m Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Hawaii. We used the Montreal NIR camera (MONICA) equipped with a 256 x 256 pixel HgCdTe array detector with a projected size of 0.248 arcsec. One of the main data

  • GUACAMOLE: the GTC guiding, acquisition, and calibration module
Modern Acquisition and Guiding systems provide a range of services with the aim of optimizing telescope performance. These include wavefront sensing for active optics, fast guiding and measurement of seeing. On a segmented-mirror telescope, the Acquisition and Guiding system may also be expected to provide measurements of the piston errors between

  • FORMATION AND EVOLUTION OF BLUE COMPACT DWARF GALAXIES
• Evolutionary synthesis models for the emission from radioactive isotopes in H II regions
We have extended our evolutionary synthesis models for Star Forming Regions to the γ-ray domain. Applying different yields to the resulting synthetic populations, we obtain lightcurves of γ-ray line emission due to the radioactive decay of stellar nucleosynthesis products, such as 26Al and 60Fe. We present here this time evolution and the

  • Deep optical imaging and spectroscopy of a sample of Wolf-Rayet galaxies
We present results of narrow-band (Hα and adjacent continuum) and broad-band (U, B and V) optical CCD imaging together with high- and intermediate-resolution optical spectroscopy for a sample dwarf and/or irregular Wolf-Rayet (WR) galaxies with absolute B magnitudes in the range -14 to -22 mag, taken from the catalogue of Conti (1991). We find that
