  • The metal-poor end of the Spite plateau. I. Stellar parameters, metallicities, and lithium abundances
Context. The primordial nature of the Spite plateau is at odds with the WMAP satellite measurements, implying a primordial Li production at least three times higher than observed. It has also been suggested that A(Li) might exhibit a positive correlation with metallicity below [Fe/H] ~ -2.5. Previous samples studied comprised few stars below [Fe/H]

  • The metallicity distributions in high-latitudes with SDSS
We present metallicities and their variations with different parameters for 36 high-latitude fields covering Galactic longitudes 0° l ⩽ 360°. The metallicities for relatively short vertical distances (z 2.5 kpc) show systematic fluctuations with Galactic longitude, similar to those of the thick-disc scaleheight, which may be interpreted as

  • The Mid-Infrared Emission of Seyfert Galaxies: A New Analysis of ISOCAM Data
We present mid-infrared data of a sample of 57 AGNs obtained with the instrument ISOCAM on board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) satellite. The images were obtained through the LW2 (6.75 μm) and LW7 (9.62 μm) filters. This is a new analysis of the Clavel et al. galaxy sample, which is divided into 26 type 1 (1.5) Seyfert galaxies, plus three

  • The morphology and luminosity function of the Galactic bulge from TMGS star counts
The bulge of the Galaxy is analyzed by inverting K-band star counts from the Two-Micron Galactic Survey in a number of off-plane regions. A total area of about 75 sq deg of sky is analyzed. Assuming a nonvariable luminosity function within the bulge, we derive the top end of the K-band luminosity function and the stellar density function, whose

  • The morphology and masses of EROs in the Groth Strip
We investigate the morphologies, masses and possible correlations between these two properties for 108 extremely red galaxies (EROs) found in the Groth strip. The photometric data include U, B, F606W, F814W, J, and K_s bands. The EROs were selected on the basis of their extremely red colour, F814W-K_s ≥ 4 and K_s ≤ 21.0. Morphologies are based on a
