  • Granulation deformation near and in sunspot regions
High-resolution white-light pictures are analyzed to study the differences between the granular size near sunspot penumbrae and in light-bridges presenting granular structure and that of the quiet photosphere. No difference is found between the mean granular diameter in light-bridges and the quiet photosphere. The dispersion found in the results

  • World Atlas of large optical telescopes (second edition)
By early 1986 there will be over 120 large optical telescopes in the world engaged in astronomical research with mirror or lens diameters of one meter (39-inches) and larger. This atlas gives information on these telescopes and shows their observatory sites on continent sized maps. Also shown are observatory locations considered suitable for the

  • Observations of three BL Lacertae objects - Constraints on inhomogeneous relativistically beamed jet models
Multifrequency observations are presented of three BL Lac objects, including the first UV measurements of 0912 + 297 and 1219 + 285. An eight day optical flare was measured from 0422 = 004 in which a doubling in visual flux density was noted; other sources displayed smaller daily fluctuations. The 5-15 GHz radio flux from these three objects

  • H II region spectroscopy and two dimensional stellar photometry of the barred Seyfert NGC 1566
Radial velocities of 14 H II regions were obtained using reticon spectroscopy at H-alpha for the barred spiral NGC 1566. The same spectra also yield N II/H and S II/H ratios, and give values of the electron densities in the range of 10/cu cm. Kinematic and dynamic arguments are used to show that nonradial gas velocities are present, especially

  • Radio and infrared observations of the faint nebula GM 24.
The faint nebulosity CM24=PP85 listed by Parsamian and Petrosian (1979) was observed at infrared (1-10 pm) and radio (6 cm and CO line) wavelengths in the vicinity of the CO "hot spot" reported by Torrelles et al. (1983). The radio continuum (6 cm) emission from a spherically symmetrical HIl region was detected with the Very Large Array. Its
