  • Searches for dark matter annihilation signatures in the Segue 1 satellite galaxy with the MAGIC-I telescope
We report the results of the observation of the nearby satellite galaxy Segue 1 performed by the MAGIC-I ground-based gamma-ray telescope between November 2008 and March 2009 for a total of 43.2 hours. No significant gamma-ray emission was found above the background. Differential upper limits on the gamma-ray flux are derived assuming various power

  • Regularities in frequency spacings of δ Scuti stars: the Kepler star KIC 9700322
In the faint star KIC 9700322 observed by the Kepler satellite, 76 frequencies with amplitudes from 14 to 29 000 ppm were detected. The two dominant frequencies at 9.79 and 12.57 d-1 (113.3 and 145.5 μHz), interpreted to be radial modes, are accompanied by a large number of combination frequencies. A small additional modulation with a 0.16 d-1

  • Pulsar Electrons Detection in AMS-02 Experiment. Model Status and Discovery Potential
The measurements of cosmic rays electrons (e±) have begun a new era a few years ago with high precision experiments like PAMELA and Fermi-LAT. Both experiments show an excess above 10 GeV. Studying Fermi-LAT data, the total electron flux seems to be steeper than expected. While these new measurements have not closed the debate, results from AMS-02

  • Problems of the Modern Romanian Astronomy: TELEROM
The TV broadcast discusses problems of the modernization of the Romanian astronomical infrastructure, the worst in Eastern Europe. It presents the TELEROM project which proposed to establish a new EU-funded robotic 1,3 m telescope, a project finally rejected by the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy mainly due to the incompetence of the

  • Preparation of Kepler light curves for asteroseismic analyses
The Kepler mission is providing photometric data of exquisite quality for the asteroseismic study of different classes of pulsating stars. These analyses place particular demands on the pre-processing of the data, over a range of time-scales from minutes to months. Here, we describe processing procedures developed by the Kepler Asteroseismic
