  • Addressing the Question Posed by the Of?p Stars: HD191612
There are three known Of?p stars in our galaxy, they are the well known peculiar stars HD108, HD148937 and HD191612. The question mark in their spectral classification was introduced by Walborn (1972) to indicate doubt that these stars are normal Of supergiants. They are characterised by their CIII 4647, 4650, 4651 emission lines being comparable

  • A homogeneous set of globular cluster relative distances and reddenings
We present distance modulus and reddening determinations for 72 Galactic globular clusters from the homogeneous photometric database of Piotto et al. ([CITE]), calibrated to the HST flight F439W and F555W bands. The distances have been determined by comparison with theoretical absolute magnitudes of the ZAHB. For low and intermediate metallicity

  • A high-resolution stellar library for evolutionary population synthesis
We present a library of 1654 high-resolution stellar spectra, with a sampling of 0.3 Åand covering the wavelength range from 3000 to 7000 Å. The library was computed with the latest improvements in stellar atmospheres, incorporating non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (non-LTE) line-blanketed models for hot, massive (Teff>= 27500K) and line

  • A Conference Organised by the ING on the Nature of V838 Monocerotis and Its Spectacular Light Echo
The ING is organising a conference on "The Nature of V838 Mon and Its Light Echo", that will be held from May 16th to 19th, 2006, in the Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa in the beach resort of Los Cancajos, near Santa Cruz de la Palma.

  • XTE J1118+480 near Quiescence
Following our optical monitoring of the halo black-hole candidate XTE J1118+480 (ATELs #383, #402, #424), we have obtained time-resolved R-band photometry with the ESA 1-m OGS telescope at the Spanish Observatorio del Teide and with the FLWO 1.2m telescope on Mt. Hopkins. Our observations show that the source has settled into a near-quiescence

  • Very Small Array. II. CMB at 34GHz (Taylor+, 2003)
We have observed the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature fluctuations in eight fields covering three separated areas of sky with the Very Small Array at 34GHz. A total area of 101 square degrees has been imaged, with sensitivity on angular scales of 3.6{deg}-0.4{deg} (equivalent to angular multipoles l=150-900). (2 data files).
