  • Estimating the atmospheric properties of 44 M dwarfs from SPIRou spectra
We describe advances on a method designed to derive accurate parameters of M dwarfs. Our analysis consists in comparing high-resolution infrared spectra acquired with the near-infrared spectro-polarimeter SPIRou to synthetic spectra computed from MARCS model atmospheres, in order to derive the effective temperature (T eff), surface gravity (log g)

  • EMIR, the near-infrared camera and multi-object spectrograph for the GTC. EMIR at GTC
We present EMIR, a powerful near-infrared (NIR) camera and multi-object spectrograph (MOS) installed at the Nasmyth focus of the 10.4 m GTC. EMIR was commissioned in mid-2016 and is offered as a common-user instrument. It provides spectral coverage of 0.9-2.5 µm over a field of view (FOV) of 6.67' × 6.67' in imaging mode, and 6.67' × 4' in

  • Dwarf Galaxies with Central Cores in Modified Newtonian Dynamics Gravity
Some dwarf galaxies are within the Mondian regime at all radii, i.e., the gravitational acceleration provided by the observed baryons is always below the threshold of g † ≃ 1.2 × 10 -10 m s -2. These dwarf galaxies often show cores, in the sense that, assuming Newton's gravity to explain their rotation curves, the total density profile ρ(r)

  • Dipolar dark matter simulations on galaxy scales with the RAMSES code
We numerically explore on galaxy scales the dipolar dark matter (DM) model based on the concept of gravitational polarization. This DM model has been proposed as a natural way to reproduce observed tight galactic scaling relations such as the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation and the Radial Acceleration Relation. We present a customized version of the

  • Development of Al-Nb Hybrid Lumped-Element Kinetic Inductance Detectors for Infrared Photon Detection
A direct detection experiment with gallium arsenide (GaAs) as a cryogenic scintillator is proposed to search for dark matter in the mass range below 1 GeV . To detect scintillation photons with high sensitivity, we are developing Lumped Element Kinetic Inductance Detectors (LE-KIDs). We report the first fabrication of the aluminum-niobium LE-KIDs

  • Detection of Na and K in the Atmosphere of the Hot Jupiter HAT-P-1b with P200/DBSP
We present a new optical transmission spectrum of the hot Jupiter HAT-P-1b based on two transits observed with the Double Spectrograph (DBSP) on the Palomar 200-inch (P200) telescope. The DBSP transmission spectrum, covering a wavelength range from 3250 to 10007 Å, is consistent with that observed with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), but the
