  • Detection of Na and K in the Atmosphere of the Hot Jupiter HAT-P-1b with P200/DBSP
We present a new optical transmission spectrum of the hot Jupiter HAT-P-1b based on two transits observed with the Double Spectrograph (DBSP) on the Palomar 200-inch (P200) telescope. The DBSP transmission spectrum, covering a wavelength range from 3250 to 10007 Å, is consistent with that observed with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), but the

  • Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Cosmological constraints from galaxy clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing using the MAGLIM lens sample
The cosmological information extracted from photometric surveys is most robust when multiple probes of the large scale structure of the Universe are used. Two of the most sensitive probes are the clustering of galaxies and the tangential shear of background galaxy shapes produced by those foreground galaxies, so-called galaxy-galaxy lensing

  • Cosmological gas accretion history onto the stellar discs of Milky Way-like galaxies in the Auriga simulations - (I) Temporal dependency
We use the 30 simulations of the Auriga Project to estimate the temporal dependency of the inflow, outflow, and net accretion rates onto the discs of Milky Way-like galaxies. The net accretion rates are found to be similar for all galaxies at early times, increasing rapidly up to $\sim 10~\mathrm{M}_\odot \, \mathrm{yr}^{-1}$. After ~6 Gyr of

  • Confirmation and characterisation of three giant planets detected by TESS from the FIES/NOT and Tull/McDonald spectrographs
We report the confirmation and characterisation of TOI-1820 b, TOI-2025 b, and TOI-2158 b, three Jupiter-sized planets on short-period orbits around G-type stars detected by TESS. Through our ground-based efforts using the FIES and Tull spectrographs, we have confirmed these planets and characterised their orbits, and find periods of around 4.9 d

  • Comparative study of Shack-Hartmann configurations for atmospheric turbulence reconstructions in solar adaptive optics
The correction of the phase variations induced by the atmospheric turbulence is one of the most complex problems that an Adaptive Optics (AO) System must deal with, as it must calculate the properties of all the atmosphere traversed by the light from several measures taken by ground-based telescopes. Traditional reconstructors systems used in AO

  • Brown dwarf companions in microlensing binaries detected during the 2016-2018 seasons
Aims: With the aim of finding microlensing binaries containing brown dwarf (BD) companions, we investigate the microlensing survey data collected during the 2016-2018 seasons. Methods: For this purpose, we first modeled lensing events with light curves exhibiting anomaly features that are likely to be produced by binary lenses. We then sorted out
