  • Lithium in the pre-main sequence triple system UX Tauri
High-resolution spectra (range 655-675 nm) are presented of the pre-main sequence triple system UX Tau. Favorable seeing conditions allowed detection of the spectra of the faintest component, where detection of the H-alpha and the Li-I 670.7 nm feature are reported. An estimate of effective temperature, luminosity, and mass leads to the conclusion

  • IRAS 22568 + 6141 - A new bipolar planetary nebula
The identification of a bipolar planetary nebula is reported with a description of its characteristics. The nebula IRAS 22568 + 6141 has an extension of 8 arcsec, a high extinction of 2.37, and electron temperature and density of 11,500 K and 20,000/cu cm respectively. The distance to the object is estimated at 6 kpc by means of the Shklovskii

  • Interpreting asymmetric line profiles in merger remnants
Absorption line profile asymmetries in ellipticals with peculiar core kinematics, and their role as diagnostics of mergers, are analyzed using self-consistent numerical merger models. The remnants of mergers involving a denser secondary component show asymmetric line-of-sight velocity distributions at their cores. Skewness is negative where the

  • CCD surface photometry of the low-luminosity radio galaxies containing radio jets B2 0034 + 25 and B2 0206 + 35
CCD imaging of low-luminosity radio galaxies to detect the optical counterparts of radio jets is described in terms of the surface-photometry procedure and the results for two galaxies. The galaxies have low-power radio jets at the arcsec scale and appear to be interacting with companion galaxies. Interfering images are removed, and isophotal
