  • The Data Reduction Pipeline for the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment
The Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE), part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III, explores the stellar populations of the Milky Way using the Sloan 2.5-m telescope linked to a high resolution (R ∼ 22,500), near-infrared (1.51–1.70 μm) spectrograph with 300 optical fibers. For over 150,000 predominantly red giant branch

  • The Deep Impact Event as Seen from the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory
The Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) played a substantial role in the Deep Impact campaign. Several telescopes were used to follow up comet 9P/Tempel1 before the impact and the five largest telescopes of the ORM were used simultaneously to track the impact itself in an unprecedented way.

  • The density and shock characteristics of NGC 2818
We report the results of narrow band imaging of the bipolar outflow source NGC 2818 in transitions of [NII], [OIII], [SII], and HI. As a consequence, we are able to assess the overall excitation properties of the shell, and determine that line ratios towards the nebular periphery are anomalous, and characteristic of planar shocks with velocity V_s

  • The Disappearing Act of KH 15D: Photometric Results from the 2002-2004 Observing Campaigns
We present the results from the 2002-2004 seasons of photometric monitoring of the eclipsing system KH 15D. The eclipse has continued to evolve in secular fashion, and the eclipses are now approximately 24 days in length, or half the period. A periodogram of the most recent data confirms the spectroscopic period of 48.38 days determined by Johnson

  • The Disc-Halo Structure of NGC 3109
We present the results of V and I photometries for ~56,500 stars of NGC 3109 obtained from a 467.26(')2 wide-field observations. The internal extinction does not affect the determination of the magnitude of the tip of the red giant branch (TRGB) from which a distance modulus of (m - M)0 = 25.61 ± 0.10 (1.32 ± 0.06 Mpc) have been derived.
