  • First Look at z > 1 Bars in the Rest-frame Near-infrared with JWST Early CEERS Imaging
Stellar bars are key drivers of secular evolution in galaxies and can be effectively studied using rest-frame near-infrared (NIR) images, which trace the underlying stellar mass and are less impacted by dust and star formation than rest-frame UV or optical images. We leverage the power of JWST CEERS NIRCam images to present the first quantitative

  • Mass Models of the Milky Way and Estimation of Its Mass from the Gaia DR3 Data Set
We use data from the Gaia DR3 data set to estimate the mass of the Milky Way (MW) by analyzing the rotation curve in the range of distances 5 to 28 kpc. We consider three mass models: The first model adds a spherical dark matter (DM) halo, following the Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) profile, to the known stellar components. The second model assumes

  • Resolved CO(1-0) Emission and Gas Properties in Luminous Dusty Star-forming Galaxies at z = 2-4
We present the results of a survey of CO(1-0) emission in 14 infrared luminous dusty star-forming galaxies (DSFGs) at 2 < z < 4 with the NSF's Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array. All sources are detected in 12CO(1-0), with an angular resolution of ~1″. Seven sources show extended and complex structure. We measure CO luminosities of $(\mu ){L}_{\mathrm

  • TESS Asteroseismic Analysis of HD 76920: The Giant Star Hosting an Extremely Eccentric Exoplanet
The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission searches for new exoplanets. The observing strategy of TESS results in high-precision photometry of millions of stars across the sky, allowing for detailed asteroseismic studies of individual systems. In this work, we present a detailed asteroseismic analysis of the giant star HD 76920

  • Precision Ephemerides for Gravitational-wave Searches - IV. Corrected and refined ephemeris for Scorpius X-1
Low-mass X-ray binaries have long been theorized as potential sources of continuous gravitational-wave radiation, yet there is no observational evidence from recent LIGO/Virgo observing runs. Even for the theoretically 'loudest' source, Sco X-1, the upper limit on gravitational-wave strain has been pushed ever lower. Such searches require precise

  • The chemical characterization of halo substructure in the Milky Way based on APOGEE
Galactic haloes in a Λ-CDM universe are predicted to host today a swarm of debris resulting from cannibalized dwarf galaxies. The chemodynamical information recorded in their stellar populations helps elucidate their nature, constraining the assembly history of the Galaxy. Using data from APOGEE and Gaia, we examine the chemical properties of
