Descripción
In this paper, we study the circumgalactic environment of LINER host
galaxies, in a sample of 166 objects drawn from a Multifrequency
Catalogue of LINERs by Carrillo et.1999). The aim of our work is to
compare the environment of different types of LINERs, therefore we
subdivided our sample in three groups: LINERs type, type, and transition
objects (TL). The search has been carried out on the Digitized Sky
Survey (DSS) up to a projected linear distance of 300using methods
applied in several previous studies. We found that type LINERs and TLs
seem to possess a richer environment than those of type. In addition,
type LINERs and TLs show large companions with frequency similar to that
of bright IRAS galaxies and Seyfert 2 host galaxies. We suggest that an
evolutionary sequence from starbursting systems, to type and eventually
to type-1 AGN, may be appropriate for most AGN and may be independent of
luminosity.
