  • Euclid: A complete Einstein ring in NGC 6505
We report the discovery of a complete Einstein ring around the elliptical galaxy NGC 6505, at z = 0.042. This is the first strong gravitational lens discovered in Euclid and the first in an NGC object from any survey. The combination of the low redshift of the lens galaxy, the brightness of the source galaxy (I E = 18.1 lensed, I E = 21.3 unlensed)

  • Euclid preparation: LX. The use of HST images as input for weak-lensing image simulations
Data from the Euclid space telescope will enable cosmic shear measurements to be carried out with very small statistical errors, necessitating a corresponding level of systematic error control. A common approach to correct for shear biases involves calibrating shape measurement methods using image simulations with known input shear. Given their

  • Eruptive mass loss less than a year before the explosion of superluminous supernovae: I. The cases of SN 2020xga and SN 2022xgc
We present photometric and spectroscopic observations of SN 2020xga and SN 2022xgc, two hydrogen-poor superluminous supernovae (SLSNe-I) at z = 0.4296 and z = 0.3103, respectively, which show an additional set of broad Mg II absorption lines, blueshifted by a few thousands kilometer second ‑1 with respect to the host galaxy absorption system

  • Environmental effects on nearby debris discs
Aims. We investigate the influence of the interstellar medium (ISM) on debris discs using a statistical approach. We probe the effect of the ISM on debris disc occurrence rates and on the morphologies of the discs. Methods. We used results from the Herschel Space Observatory DUNES and DEBRIS surveys of 295 nearby FGK dwarf stars imaged at 100 µm

  • Discovery and Characterization of an Eccentric, Warm Saturn Transiting the Solar Analog TOI-4994
    We present the detection and characterization of TOI-4994b (TIC 277128619b), a warm Saturn-sized planet discovered by the NASA Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite. TOI-4994b transits a G-type star (V = 12.6 mag) with a mass, radius, and effective temperature of M ⋆ = 1.00 5 ‑ 0.061 + 0.064 M ⊙ , R ⋆ = 1.05 5 ‑ 0.037 + 0.040 R ⊙ , and T eff = 5640

  • Detection of binary companions below the diffraction limit with lucky imaging
Context. Binary stars are invaluable tools that can be used to precisely measure the fundamental properties of stars, to test stellar models, and further our understanding of stellar evolution. Stellar binarity may also play an important role in the formation and evolution of exoplanetary systems. Aims. We provide a technique for resolving
