  • The mass of TOI-519 b: A close-in giant planet transiting a metal-rich mid-M dwarf
We report on the determination of the mass of TOI-519 b, a transiting substellar object around a mid-M dwarf. We carried out radial velocity measurements using Subaru/InfraRed Doppler (IRD), revealing that TOI-519 b is a planet with a mass of $0.463^{+0.082}_{-0.088}\, M_{\rm Jup}$. We also found that the host star is metal rich ([Fe/H] = 0.27 ± 0

  • The origin of the planetary nebula M 1-16. A morpho-kinematic and chemical analysis
We investigated the origin of the Planetary Nebula (PN) M 1-16 using narrow-band optical imaging, and high- and low-resolution optical spectra to perform a detailed morpho-kinematic and chemical studies. M 1-16 is revealed to be a multipolar PN that predominantly emits in [O III] in the inner part of the nebula and [N II] in the lobes. A novel

  • The role of grain size in active galactic nuclei torus dust models
Context. Active galactic nuclei (AGN) are surrounded by dust within the central parsecs. The dusty circumnuclear structures, referred to as the torus, are mainly heated by radiation from the AGN and emitted at infrared wavelengths, producing the emergent dust continuum and silicate features. Fits to the infrared spectra from the nuclear regions of

  • Analytical model for the temperature field of a plasma heated by fast and monoenergetic ion beams
An analytical model for the determination of the spatial temperature field of a deuterium-tritium plasma heated by a fast and monoenergetic fully stripped ion beam is presented. This analytical model provides relevant hot spot properties in good agreement respect those generated by a numerical model for fast monoenergetic ion beams. The model is

  • Free-floating Planet Mass Function from MOA-II 9 yr Survey toward the Galactic Bulge
We present the first measurement of the mass function of free-floating planets (FFPs), or very wide orbit planets down to an Earth mass, from the MOA-II microlensing survey in 2006-2014. Six events are likely to be due to planets with Einstein radius crossing times t E < 0.5 days, and the shortest has t E = 0.057 ± 0.016 days and an angular

  • Long-term trends in albedo as seen from a lunar observatory
The Earth's albedo is the fraction of short-wave solar radiation that is reflected back to space, and is key to understand the observed trends in climate change. Although there have been many observational approaches to estimate the Earth's albedo, different methods have their own drawbacks, for example, artificial satellites have a finite life
