  • A Mini-Neptune Orbiting the Metal-poor K Dwarf BD+29 2654
We report the discovery and Doppler mass measurement of a 7.4 days 2.3 R ⊕ mini-Neptune around a metal-poor K dwarf BD+29 2654 (TOI-2018). Based on a high-resolution Keck/HIRES spectrum, the Gaia parallax, and multiwavelength photometry from the UV to the mid-infrared, we found that the host star has ${T}_{\mathrm{eff}}={4174}_{-42}^{+34}$ K, $

  • Magnetic Activity Evolution of Solar-like Stars. I. S ph-Age Relation Derived from Kepler Observations
The ages of solar-like stars have been at the center of many studies such as exoplanet characterization or Galactic-archeology. While ages are usually computed from stellar evolution models, relations linking ages to other stellar properties, such as rotation and magnetic activity, have been investigated. With the large catalog of 55,232 rotation

  • A comprehensive modelling and experimental approach for damped oscillations in U-tubes via Easy JavaScript Simulations
In recent years, science simulations have become popular among educators due to their educational usefulness, availability, and potential for increasing the students' knowledge on scientific topics. In this paper, we introduce the implementation of a user-friendly simulation based on Easy Java/JavaScript Simulations (EJS) to study the problem of

  • An investigation of non-canonical mixing in red giant stars using APOGEE 12C/13C ratios observed in open cluster stars
Standard stellar evolution theory poorly predicts the surface abundances of chemical species in low-mass, red giant branch (RGB) stars. Observations show an enhancement of p-p chain and CNO cycle products in red giant envelopes, which suggests the existence of non-canonical mixing that brings interior burning products to the surface of these stars

  • Dynamical mass of the white dwarf in XY Ari: a test for intermediate polar X-ray spectral models
We present a dynamical study of the eclipsing intermediate polar XY Ari based on time-resolved near-infrared spectroscopy obtained with the EMIR spectrograph on the 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias. Using main sequence template spectra taken with the same instrument setup as the target spectra, we measure a radial velocity amplitude of the late K-

  • The PAU survey: classifying low-z SEDs using Machine Learning clustering
We present an application of unsupervised Machine Learning clustering to the PAU survey of galaxy spectral energy distribution (SED) within the COSMOS field. The clustering algorithm is implemented and optimized to get the relevant groups in the data SEDs. We find 12 groups from a total number of 5234 targets in the survey at 0.01 < z < 0.28. Among
